h1 tags for SEO?

An H1 tag huh?

Now this is what you probably thought I was going to talk about yesterday.

So how does the elusive h1 tag really help my SEO endeavors. Well, for starters it clearly defines the keywords for your page. Used properly, h1 tags are the "headlines" of a page. That being said, they should hold the spiritual oneness of what you are saying on your page. In laymans terms it says in one small phrase or sentence what you will be further elaborating on for the rest of the page.

When creating your h1 tags wording, keep in mind everything you are wanting to convey to your reader for the rest of the page. Sum up all the knowledge that will be given into that one tagline. The search engines give special points to the words in this 'tag", so use it wisely. If there is a phrase that you are wanting to rank higher for put it in an h1 tag. This works to an infinitely higher degree if you then put some of those words sprinkled throughout the rest of the page. It also helps greatly to put some of those words strategically throughout your h2 and h3 tags as well.

Think of the h1 tag as the fountain of power for your page. You need to take its power (specific words) and use it (those words) throughout the rest of your page.

Yet another way to look at this is kind of like Reagonomics (my ode to election day today). Some of you might remember a little thing called trickle down economics. Well, the h1 tag is where the trickle starts. Its up to you however tokeep that trickle going by using the keywords from your h1 tag in successive tags and paragraphs going down the page.
